Talk and hear your e-mail on Tatacell
Our Business Bureau, Hyderabad June 27: Tata Cellular, mobile service
provider in Andhra Pradesh, on Wednesday launched Voiceme, a telephone-
internet application which enables the customer to send and receive e-mail on
the cellphone, doing away with the need of PC. This is for the first time in
India that a company is offering this facility.
Every customer would be
given an e-mail ID for availing the facility. At the same time, she/he can also
route e-mail messages recived on other addresses to this mail.
Voiceme
service converts text messages sent to a cellular phone either from a cellular
phone or a computer into voice messages and plays them over the user’s
cellphone.Long messages, even with the text or HTML attachments, can be sent
over voiceme, S.K.Subramanian, chief operating officer of Tatacell, told
reporters here.
Customer can also sent their messages in their own
voice. These messages are carried by the cellular provider in the wave file
format and the recipients can listen to them either on their computers or on
their cellular phones.
The voicme service, being introduced with the
help of Speech and Software Technologies (I) Pvt. Ltd. A Tata group company. Would be
offered free of charge as an introductory offer for all post paid.
